International Umrah to Resume on 10 Aug 2021 after long COVID-19 Travel Restrictions

In a recent tweet by Haramain Sharifain official twitter account (@hsharifan), on 24 July, 2021 it has been announced that international Umrah will resume from 1st Muharram 1443 (10 August 2021).

This is a great news for Muslims around the world who have not been able to visit Saudi Arabia for religious rituals including Hajj and Umrah for more than a year due to ongoing Coronavirus pandemic and travel restrictions. Currently travelers of age 18 years and above are allowed.

Umrah Update for Pakistani Nationals

Unfortunately, the news is not as good for Pakistani nationals as there are some additional requirements on Pakistani (and 8 other) nationals, which are almost impossible for a regular Umrah traveler.

The restriction for Pakistani nationals are:

  • Pakistani nationals must quarantine in a third country for 14 days, before they are allowed to enter Kingdom of Saudi Arabia
  • They must have been vaccinated with Pfizer, Moderna, Astrazeneca or J&J COVID-19 vaccine. If they have already taken Chinese vaccine, they must take a booster shot of one of the above vaccines
