Last updated on 07 Mar, 2024
The Government of Pakistan has recently announced a significant increase in passport fees, marking up to 50% rise for Pakistani nationals. Effective from March 7, 2024 the change will be immediately implemented. The normal 36 pages passport will now cost PKR 4500.
The fee adjustment comes alongside the recent introduction of a new electronic passport, featuring chip-based technology. This e-passport aims to enhance security and streamline travel procedures for Pakistani citizens.
The decision to raise passport fees reflects the government's efforts to meet financial requirements while modernizing passport services. The introduction of the chip-based e-passport aligns with global trends in passport technology, offering improved security features and efficiency in border control processes.
